On the morning of 16 May 2011 some Java passionned guys assisted in the launch of the latest JUG, in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. It is named FASOJUG. This Java User Group is founded by me, Constantin DRABO, together with  Dr. Paul Kaboré.

The main purpose of the group is to gather in the same spirit Java fun in Burkina Faso and promote it using Java, NetBeans IDE, and other open source technologies (IDEs, OS, systems, etc.).

Android

The first activity was a session around Android. This event was sponsored by Google for the Google Android Challenge in the subsahara and under the umbrella of JUG-Africa, which is the central JUG from which the African local JUGs evolve.

Launching Java 7

The next event of FASOJUG is the launch of  Java 7, which will be sponsored by Oracle. We will celebrate this event with the Java community on 7 july 2011. There will be many other activities, trainings, workshops, etc, in the future.

Here is the link of the JUG website on Java.net: http://java.net/projects/fasojug/pages/Home. There is also an external website here: https://sites.google.com/site/fasojug/.

This young group has a big dream and needs a lot of help to achieve it, not for itself, but for the whole Java community!
