Java SE 7 Workshop at KTH in Stockholm, Sweden
I am Alper Celik, a Sun Campus Ambassador in Stockholm, Sweden. A few days ago we organised a Java 7 workshop at the Royal Institute of Technology ("Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan" or KTH) in Stockholm. Thanks to the co-operation of Senior Java
Architect Thorbiörn Fritzon from Sun Microsystems it was a great workshop! There were about
40-45 participants and they were all very interested in the new
features of Java. In the workshop we tried to find answers to the
following questions:
- What is new in Java™SE 7?
- What is happening in the Java World ?
- What is next on the map of Java SE Releases ?
Compared to other workshops and presentations, the level of
interest and knowledge was very high. Many students asked
lots of interesting questions and they were eager to learn new things.
Another interesting thing was that students were much more communicative
and open than ever before in networking and making new contacts. This was a great opportunity for Java
programmers to meet each other and make new connections. Since
"community" is very important, we also encourage KTH students to
contribute to open souce projects and share their experiences.
We will continue our Java workshops at KTH with a third one. If you
want a specific topic, please send us an e-mail and we will bear it in mind
when we decide the presentation scope. Please stay tuned, we will back with another workshop of Java seminar series!
